Quake Team Fortress

From Team Fortress Wiki

Quake Team Fortress (or QWTF) is the first game in the Team Fortress. It is a mod for the original Quake. Its last update was version 2.9 for servers and 2.8 for clients. Work on this mod was abandoned soon before TFC was released.

Today, QWTF has been used as a base for other Quake mods, most notably CustomTF.

[edit] Gameplay

Because it is the first game in the TF series, all of the games are based on its gameplay in one way or another. It has some differences between it and the other games, which include Shotguns having damage falloff over range, being able to jump on Nail Grenades and Nails being able to push someone around a map.

QWTF also includes a unique gamemode not seen in any other Team Fortress game: Co-op. In this gamemode, the player (and some friends, if he desires) must run through the entire Quake 1 single-player mode with QWTF's classes. This is surprisingly challenging, as the limited weaponry of each class forces the player to use weapons and strategies he normally wouldn't use in Quake's single-player mode.

[edit] Maps

No official maps were ever released for this mod. the community picked the best custom maps to make an unofficial "map list". Nearly all gametpyes in the rest of the Team Fortress games had their origins in unofficial QWTF maps.

[edit] Revolutionary Maps

  • Canalzone (created the Control Point gamemode, which was later refined in Team Fortress 2)
  • Rock (created objective-based maps that didn't include flags)
